While the difficulties faced by young people vary according to national contexts, they share strong common features marked by precarity.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Belgium: around 13,000 young people work mainly on short-term projects, often without stability or social protection.<\/li>\n<li>Italy: access to employment still relies heavily on informal networks, excluding those who do not have them.<\/li>\n<li>Hungary: major international productions favour foreign crews, limiting opportunities for local talent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This situation is compounded by limited access to culture: in Italy, in 2021, only 16% of 18\u201324-year-olds went to the cinema, with even lower rates in rural areas.<\/p>\n<h2>BE UNIT \u2013 Supporting young people in developing skills through the organisation of a short film festival<\/h2>\n<p>The conference Improving young people\u2019s employability in the audiovisual sector and their active citizenship marked the end of <a href=\"https:\/\/pourlasolidarite.eu\/en\/project\/be-unit-improving-employability-young-people-audiovisual-sector-and-their-active-citizenship\/\">the BE UNIT project<\/a>, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. Over a period of two years, the partners \u2013 Pour La Solidarit\u00e9, Cooperativa ORSO, Epica Film and Galileo Progetti \u2013 trained and supported 45 young adults from Belgium, Italy and Hungary.<\/p>\n<p>These young people received technical and professional training, which concluded with the organisation of <a href=\"https:\/\/pourlasolidarite.eu\/en\/news\/professional-and-civic-inclusion-of-young-people-through-culture-video-festival-and-advocacy\/\">the Moonstep Short Film Festival, held in Turin in September 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Recommendations to strengthen young people\u2019s cultural participation and facilitate access to audiovisual professions<\/h2>\n<p>Building on their experience in training young people, <a href=\"https:\/\/pourlasolidarite.eu\/en\/publication\/recommendations-to-enhance-employability-to-youngsters-in-the-audiovisual-field-and-reduce-barriers-to-cultural-participation\/\">the partners of the BE UNIT project now present a policy advocacy document<\/a>, co-created with the young participants themselves, which puts forward solutions and good practices to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>reduce barriers to cultural participation;<\/li>\n<li>engage new audiences in film culture;<\/li>\n<li>use cinema as a tool to promote intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding;<\/li>\n<li>strengthen young people\u2019s employability in the audiovisual sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"author":14,"featured_media":12863,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_crsspst_to_hw54cbnnavpreviewinfomaniakwebsite":false,"_crsspst_to_hw54cbnnbbpreviewinfomaniakwebsite":false,"_crsspst_to_hw54cbnnbdpreviewinfomaniakwebsite":false},"categories":[],"internal_contacts":[689],"countries":[],"thematics":[749,732,731],"class_list":["post-12870","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","internal_contacts-sanjinplakalo-en","thematics-access-to-employment","thematics-jobs","thematics-social-affairs"],"acf":{"content_resume":"The closing conference of the BE UNIT project, held on 4 December 2025, highlighted the realities faced by young people seeking to enter the European audiovisual sector, as well as recommendations to foster young people\u2019s cultural participation.","thematique_principale":"Affaires sociales","pls_publication":false,"date_content_start":null,"date_content_end":null,"content_link":"<a href=\"https:\/\/pourlasolidarite.eu\/en\/publication\/recommendations-to-enhance-employability-to-youngsters-in-the-audiovisual-field-and-reduce-barriers-to-cultural-participation\/\">APPEAL -
