On January 7, at the 75th Golden Globes ceremony, Oprah Winfrey’s speech shone a spotlight on the necessity of Afro-feminist struggles. By evoking the story of Recy Taylor – a victim of gang rape by white men in the mid-1940s – and the commitment of activist Rosa Parks, the American host reminded us that emancipation encounters more obstacles when a person accumulates forms of domination. <\/p>\n
In Europe, Afro-feminism is taking on an unprecedented dimension, as illustrated by the enthusiasm generated by the documentary “Ouvrir la voix” (“Open your voice”) by activist Amandine Gay. By giving a voice to 24 black women, the film overturns clich\u00e9s and is part of a process of emancipation which, like the ousting of journalist and anti-racist activist Rokhaya Diallo from the Conseil national du num\u00e9rique, is more necessary than ever! <\/p>\n
