The Social Tech Academy is the platform of resources on the digital professions of the Social Economy and Social Tech, i.e. the use of technology for social, societal and citizen action. This project is supported by the European programme Erasmus+.

A year ago, Simplon.co, BeCode, Factoria F5, Simplon Romania and POUR LA SOLIDARITE-PLS met in Barcelona and decided to join their forces to optimize the Simplon’s inclusive learning methodology which aims to make digital technology a lever for social inclusion.

EUnited We Code: What about the Hackathon?

At the beginning of June, Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner in Digital Economy and Society department, stressed the importance of ensuring that everybody has “equal opportunities in the digitalisation of our economy and our society” in a speech given at the opening of the Digital Assembly 2019. Also, she identified three action levers to achieve this equality of opportunities: the development of digital infrastructures, the dissemination of digital skills and the strengthening of the ability of all to be informed.

Improve the skills of home helpers for older people

On 22 October 2019, POUR LA SOLIDARITÉ – PLS organises a conference in Brussels on the development of professional skills for home helpers, and on improving the quality of care for the elderly person at home. This event is part of the atHOME European project which aims to improve the maintenance of older and dependent people at home.

The EUnited We Code project partnership will be in Brussels at the end of June 2019 for a full week dedicated to inclusive digital. A hackathon, a creative, participatory and collaborative process dedicated to digital innovation will be held!

Blockchain, digital innovation and social economy

What happens when social economy and blockchain or Distributed Ledger Technology meet? Join the discussion on 7 February 2019 from 09:00 to 13:00 at the EESC with experts and representatives from Social Economy, Eu institutions and companies. The workshop will present solutions based on Blockchain or Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLTs) for social goals. Denis Stokkink, President of PLS, will moderate the third session of the event.

Digital skills and social inclusion: EUnited We Code

Eunited We Code is a European project co-funded by the Erasmus+ program aiming to foster the innovative pedagogy developed by the social enterprise Simplon.co. This methodology facilitates the integration of vulnerable populations in the tech sector through digital skills learning. The partnership includes five organisations and will build a European network of social coding schools.

Improvement of home care and assistance: AT HOME

atHOME aims to develop innovative interprofessional experiences and approaches around maintaining the older people at home. This European project is led by a consortium of 7 partners from France, Belgium, Portugal and Spain.
