POUR LA SOLIDARITÉ-PLS leads a variety of initiatives to strengthen :

  • participatory democracy
  • citizen participation in political life
  • integration of immigrants or people of immigrant origin
  • the fight against discrimination.

As a common thread, the think & do tank opts for activities that, directly or indirectly, motivate habitant⸱e⸱sof every European state to become actors in this European citizenship in order to establish a broader dialogue between public authorities, civil society and business and thus build an inclusive European Union by 2020.

Professional and Civic Inclusion of Young People through Culture: Video Festival and Advocacy

In September, the city of Turin hosted the international short film festival “Moonstep”, an event entirely organized by young people from Belgium, Italy, and Hungary. More than just a film showcase, this festival served as a true springboard for the sociocultural and professional inclusion of young European adults.

The TEDDA methodological guide to improving associations’ internal ecological transition practices is now available! It is aimed at associations that want to improve their practices and reduce their environmental impact, but are not specialists in environmental issues.

Involvement of companies in the fight against gender-based violence in Belgium

One of the main activities of the “CARVE – Companies against gender violence” project consisted in carrying out qualitative national studies that aimed at presenting the national legal and social backgrounds as well as the way violence committed against women is treated by companies. In this national study, POUR LA SOLIDARITÉ presents the results of the field investigation carried in Belgium.

Between January 2010 and June 2011, Spain, Belgium and Hungary will successively head the Presidency of the EU Council. PLS, Europa Haz (Hungary) and Fundación ONCE (Spain) have analyzed the involvement of civil society organizations in identifying and implementing the program of the Spanish-Belgian-Hungarian Presidential trio.

BE UNIT: Improving the employability of young people in the audiovisual sector and their active citizenship

The BE UNIT project aims to improve the employability of young European adults in the film and video production labour market, as well as their active citizenship.

AKA Active Citizens

AKA Active Citizens is a project proposal that aims at promoting the democratic participation and engagement at EU level of young citizens with vulnerable backgrounds in 8 countries through Global Citizenship Education-based activities to be implemented in Community Centres.

EUROVIP: Valuing volunteering commitment

EuroVIP “European Volunteer Inclusion Program” is a European project led by a consortium of 5 partners from different Member States. The project aims to promote the professional integration and employability of young people aged 17-30 through the recognition of their skills developed during volunteering experiences.

FESSUD – Financialisation, Economy, Society and Sustainable Development

FESSUD brings together expertise from 14 leading universities across Europe and South Africa and one civil society organisation to look afresh at how the financial system affects the world around us. We need to know what can be done to make the financial system work for society, the economy and the environment and not – as has sometimes been the case – the other way round.
